Welcome to Birsace Birmans
-
-
As
a family of cat lovers, we embarked
on a new kitten search in 2006 when
our eldest daughter moved out with
the family cat in tow. After
extensively researching different
cat breeds, we discovered and fell
in love with Birmans. The legendary
history of this wonderful breed is
shrouded in mystery, and was once
called the “Sacred Cat of Burma”.

The Birman is a strikingly beautiful
semi long haired, color point cat
with silky rabbit like fur, gentle
temperament and blue eyes. The
combination of color points against
light body color, and four white
paws (called gloves and laces) gives
a striking contrast. In addition,
this breed is very people oriented,
playful, and requires minimal
grooming.

Soon after acquiring our first
Birman, my daughter and I became
interested in showing and breeding
as a hobby. A longstanding
fascination with genetics from my
nursing background came to life, as
I considered all the Birman color
possibilities.

Our cattery is registered with TICA
(The International Cat Association).
We believe that participation in cat
shows is an important responsibility
as a breeder. Having our cats
evaluated by different judges
ensures that we are breeding
according to TICA Birman standard,
and validates our breeding program.
Not all cats like to be shown, but
we believe at least one parent of a
pedigreed kitten should have a
title.

In keeping with Birman tradition,
kittens are named by the letter of
the alphabet that falls on their
year of birth. 2008
is an F year, and our new addition
is Fendi (Dior and Kipper’s son).
Fifth Avenue, our new female, will
join us later this year. Our Birmans
are named in accordance with our
designer theme – hence the name
BIRSACE BIRMANS. To us, it
epitomizes the beauty and elegance
of this wonderful breed.

We wish to remain small, with only
two breeding females. Our Birmans
live in the midst of our family as
strictly indoor cats in a cage free
environment. This way, they receive
an abundance of love and attention.
Our primary goal is to raise
healthy, well socialized pets who
will become wonderful companions. In
addition to good temperament, we
breed for deep blue eye color and
light body coat. In 2009, with the
addition of our new girl, Fifth
Avenue, we will have Birman kittens
in lilac, blue, chocolate and seal
in both colorpoint and lynx pattern.
