We are a family of cat lovers
who embarked on a new kitten search in
2006
after
our eldest d
aughter
moved out with the family cat in tow. After an
extensive search of different cat breeds, we
discovered and fell in love with Birmans.
Soon after adopting our first Birman, I became very
interested in breeding, which I had never considered
before in the midst of raising daughters. As a
registered nurse with a longstanding fascination
with genetics, I have spent
countless hours researching the Birman breed and
attending cat shows, to determine the traits, colors
and attributes we want to focus on in our breeding program.
It has been a very fulfilling hobby. Good health and temperament
are at the top of the list of importance, and we
also strive for deep blue eye color, a lush
fluffy coat and stocky boning. Our personal favorite
Birman colors are chocolate and lilac,
because the coat remains
lighter, with less shading as the cat gets older. We love them all,
however, and breed all four colors - seal, blue
(traditional), chocolate and lilac (dilute) in solid
and lynx patterns.
Birmans are strikingly beautiful, intelligent,
gentle and playful cats who like to be around
people. They have a
silky, semi-long haired coat that requires minimal
grooming. Originally called the “Sacred Cat of
Burma", their origin dates back centuries in France. Birman integration into the western world is almost
as shrouded in mystery as the legendary history.
We chose the name BIRSACE BIRMANS
because to us, the designer theme epitomizes the
beauty and elegance of this wonderful breed.
Following a tradition among Birman breeders, the
names of our kittens begin with the letter of the
alphabet that has become associated with their year
of birth. 2010 is an "H" year, so all
of our kittens born this year will be named
accordingly.
