Welcome to Birsace Birmans
-
-
We are a
family of cat lovers who
embarked on a kitten search when
our
eldest daughter moved out with
the family cat in tow. After
extensively researching
different cat breeds, we fell in
love with Birmans, who are
strikingly beautiful, semi long
haired cats with silky fur,
gentle temperament and blue
eyes. The combination of color
points against light body color,
and four white paws (gloves and
laces) gives a striking
contrast. They are very people
oriented, playful cats and
require minimal grooming. Once
called the “Sacred Cat of
Burma”, the legendary history of
this breed is shrouded in
mystery.

Soon after adopting our first
Birman, my daughter and I became
interested in showing and
breeding as a hobby. As a nurse
with a longstanding fascination
with genetics, I devoured
information about Birmans, and
selectively breed the traits,
colors and patterns we
personally find most desirable.

Our Birmans are named in
accordance with our designer
theme – hence the name BIRSACE
BIRMANS. To us, it epitomizes
the beauty and elegance of this
wonderful breed. In keeping with
Birman tradition, kittens are
named by the letter of the
alphabet that falls on their
year of birth. 2008, an F year,
brought new additions to our
home: Fendi is a blue point male
of our own breeding, and is Dior
and Kipper’s son. In 2009, Fendi
will be happily romancing Flair
(seal point) and Fame (chocolate
point), and designing beautiful
kittens in all four Birman
colors - seal, chocolate, blue
and lilac.

We are a TICA registered cattery
and believe it is an important
responsibility as a breeder to
participate in cat shows. Having
our cats evaluated by different
judges ensures that we are
breeding according to TICA
Birman standard, and validates
our breeding program. Not all
cats like to be shown, and I
have come to believe that a cat
who is unhappy in the show ring
should not continue to be shown.
Fendi made it abundantly clear
that cat shows were not for him,
so despite my high hopes for his
show career, I made the decision
to retire him at 8 months of age
as a TICA Champion after his
first championship cat show.

We intend to remain small, with
only two breeding females. Our
Birmans are strictly indoor
cats, who live amongst us in a
cage free environment. They
receive an abundance of love and
attention. Our primary goal is
to raise healthy, well
socialized pets who will become
wonderful companions in
carefully selected adoptive
homes.
